My father is a farmer in Aliaga, Nueva Ecija. Growing up, I often heard him say that it's over for farmers and they are always down on money and can't get profit. This is not just the story of my father but of many hardworking farmers who tirelessly work to feed our nation yet struggle to make ends meet.

In the Philippines, agriculture plays a vital role in our economy and food security. However, despite their critical role, our farmers are often left behind when it comes to profits from their produce. According to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), farming households earn an average income of only PHP 100K per annum which is barely enough for a decent living.

We call upon the local government of Aliaga and national agencies such as Department of Agriculture (DA) to ensure fair compensation for our farmers' rice production as well as fruits and vegetables. We urge them to implement policies that will guarantee reasonable pricing mechanisms that consider both market prices and production costs.
