Ensure a Proper Graduation Ceremony at Tokyo International University

Ensure a Proper Graduation Ceremony at Tokyo International University
Masalahnya
As students of Tokyo International University (TIU), we have seen firsthand how important graduation is for students and their families. Many of us come from different countries, with our families traveling all the way to Japan to witness this significant milestone. Unfortunately, they have not been able to watch the ceremony in-person, and in Spring 2024, this ceremony was not even livestreamed.
Despite having numerous beautiful campuses, TIU is not utilizing them to their full potential during such an important moment in a student's life. Thus, we ask that for this Fall 2024 graduation ceremony:
- Graduates should be called to the stage based on their degree to accept their diplomas, instead of picking them up at the office after the ceremony. This will provide a personal touch to the ceremony, and foster a sense of accomplishment among the graduates in what for most people is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
- TIU allows each student to have two guests into the auditorium during the graduation ceremony. The majority of TIU graduates in the E-Track program are international students whose families live abroad and travel to Japan for the ceremony.
- TIU livestreams the graduation ceremony online and in a waiting room for those who cannot enter the auditorium. We understand that it might be difficult to fit more than two guests per student in the auditorium. Setting up a livestream will allow guests who cannot physically be in Japan to celebrate as well.
- Allow graduation gowns to be available for pickup at least one day prior to the ceremony. This will allow students to take photos with friends/family before the graduation day.
For students who have dedicated three to four years at this university, this moment should feel momentous and celebratory rather than just a formality. It should instead serve as a vital opportunity to genuinely appreciate and honor students for their dedicated efforts and accomplishments throughout their four-year journey. Please sign this petition to ensure that TIU provides a proper and meaningful graduation ceremony for its students and their families.
Thank you!
