Enhance Support for Teen Mental Health

Enhance Support for Teen Mental Health
The Issue
I have lost many friends to suicide and I'm not even 18. Each loss is a heart-wrenching reminder of the short-lived memories teens have. There is so much potential for a better future yet these teens throw it all away.
More and more teenagers are grappling with depression, anxiety, and other mental health disorders, yet unfortunately not all of them survive the struggle.
Having been the 'therapist friend' a multitude of times, I have seen a similar trend amongst the people I have comforted—extreme insecurity. I believe that strengthening the internal confidence of a teenager will allow them to blossom and flourish on their own accord.
Teen mental health is not getting the attention or resources it desperately needs. Approximately 1 in 5 adolescents has a diagnosable mental health disorder, yet close to two-thirds with a diagnosable mental illness do not receive sufficient treatment. This lack of support leads many young individuals to resort to drastic measures in search of relief.
We must push for increased support in implementing programs that educate students, teachers, and parents about recognizing and addressing the fact that mental health issues can make a significant difference to everyone's lives.
It's equally vital to break down the stigma surrounding mental health. Awareness campaigns can play a crucial role in this—teens need to feel it’s okay to talk about their struggles, seek help, and support their peers who might be going through tough times.
❤️
Sign this petition to urge policymakers and educational institutions to prioritize and enhance support for teen mental health. Together, we can work toward a future where fewer young lives are drowned by the silent battles of mental illness.
