On November 6th, around 10 PM, a resident at Talus Apartment Homes witnessed a group of men inspecting car doors. Recognizing the suspicious activity, the resident intervened and called the police. Unfortunately, the perpetrators returned around 11:30 PM and caused significant damage, breaking windows on as many as 5 to 10 vehicles. Shockingly, this was not an isolated incident as another vehicle was broken into just the day before, on November 5th. Since August, residents have reported a troubling rise in such break-ins, with car windows shattered and personal property stolen.

This surge in criminal activity not only threatens the safety and security of our community but also erodes the peace of mind of every resident. Ensuring the security and well-being of everyone at Talus Apartment Homes must be a priority.

To address these growing concerns effectively, we propose the immediate installation of additional lights throughout the property, including motion sensor spotlights in vulnerable areas. The deployment of strategically placed security cameras will further serve as a critical deterrent to crime and a tool for identifying perpetrators.

According to NeighborhoodScout, communities with adequate lighting and visible security measures experience significantly lower rates of property crime. As residents, we deserve to feel safe in our homes and parking areas, free from the fear of criminal activity.
