Enforce the "No Waiting" Rule at Reagan International Airport

Enforce the "No Waiting" Rule at Reagan International Airport
The Issue
As a frequent traveler, I've experienced firsthand the frustration of trying to drop off or pick up at Reagan International Airport. The current situation is chaotic and time-consuming due to people waiting in areas designated for immediate pickup and dropoff only. This not only causes unnecessary congestion but also increases stress levels for everyone involved.
The airport's "no waiting" rule is clear, but it seems that it's not being enforced effectively. According to the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority, vehicles are supposed to remain in motion until passengers are ready to be picked up or dropped off. However, this rule is often ignored by drivers who choose convenience over compliance, or who don't understand that there is a separate location for cars waiting to pick up passengers.
This lack of enforcement contributes significantly to traffic congestion within the airport premises. In 2019 alone, Reagan International Airport served more than 23 million passengers (source: Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority). Imagine how many vehicles that translates into on a daily basis!
We believe that stricter enforcement of the "no waiting" rule will greatly improve traffic flow and reduce stress for travelers like myself who rely on efficient pickup and dropoff services at Reagan International Airport. A camera with object tracking software can automate the process of timing multiple cars, and a parking violation ticket for people who violate the rule would make people think twice about ignoring the rules because it benefits them.
Please join me in urging the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority to take immediate action on this issue by signing this petition today!
