The department for animal rights of the Dominican Ministerio Público has raised its voice and emphasized the legal protection the Dominican animal welfare law Ley 248-12 should guarantee all Dominican animals against poisonings regardless if they live on the street or at the beach. The punishment for breaking this law is severe: 3 month - 1 year in prison or a fine of 25 - 50 monthly wages in the height of the Dominican minimum wage. We consider this a reaction to the late poisonings in San Pedro de Macoris the mentioning of which was deleted from Facebook within a day - but the people didn't forget and didn't keep silent!. The Dominican ministry of tourism had answered some of the protestors against the San Pedro de Macoris poisonings that the director of Public Health there was already investigating the case. To support the protest we sent an email to the director of Public Health in San Pedro de Macoris in the name of all protestors and all supporters of our petition against poisonings with the document of the Ministerio Público attached. The document can be viewed in full lenght here: https://www.facebook.com/No-more-poisoned-dogs-and-cats-at-hotels-or-in-communities-of-the-Caribbean-1683543058574402/?fref=ts
