Living across the train tracks from Friends Lounge and Deja Vu Gardens in Walthamstow has become increasingly unbearable. As residents, we endure sleepless weekends due to the loud music blaring from one of the venues until well after midnight. The management of these venues hold a license permitting late-night music, but the lack of adequate soundproofing means we are forced to suffer constant disturbance every Friday and Saturday night. This also extends to excessively noisy events on some Sundays. 

The problem is exacerbated by the venues carelessness in keeping their back doors open, allowing noise to spill out into the neighbourhood. During the summer, the situation is predicted to worsen, with plans to use an outdoor area for events, projecting music even further into residential spaces. Double glazing and personal soundproofing efforts in our homes are futile against the overwhelming noise.

This is not merely an inconvenience; it affects our quality of life, health, and wellbeing. According to a study by the World Health Organization, excessive noise at night disturbs sleep, impairs cardiovascular health, and diminishes overall quality of life. Our struggle for peace and tranquility should be heard and acted upon.

We appeal to Waltham Forest Council to enforce stricter noise regulations on these venues, specifically after 10 pm. This could involve mandatory sound barriers, reinforced soundproofing, and regular inspections to ensure compliance. It is imperative that the venues take responsibility for their actions and consider the well-being of its neighbours.

Implementing these changes will greatly improve the living conditions for residents nearby, ensuring that we can continue to enjoy our homes in peace.
