Enforce Regulations Against Illegal Footway Parking in Newham

The Issue

Dear Residents of Newham,

We, the under-signed constituents, are taking a stand against the persistent and detrimental issue of illegally parked motorbikes and motor vehicles on our public footways. This egregious disregard for community safety standards has been a recurring nuisance and a hazardous threat to the peaceful and safe environment we endeavour to uphold for ourselves and our children.

Our footways are frequently occupied by irresponsibly parked vehicles, making them inaccessible for pedestrians, especially those with mobility issues, parents with children in buggies, and wheelchair users. Being forced to navigate onto busy roads to bypass these obstacles is unacceptable and dangerous.

Despite numerous complaints raised with the Newham Council, decisive action to rectify this issue remains pending. The negligence displayed towards our repeated pleas for enhanced enforcement points to a lack of concern for the grievances and wellbeing of our community.

Additionally, there is a rising tide of reckless delivery drivers who whizz past pedestrians on footways and the alarming increase in mobile phone thefts, making us feel unsafe in our own neighbourhoods.

Given these pressing circumstances, this petition calls on the Newham Council to:

  • Implement stricter regulations and penalties concerning illegally parked motor vehicles and motorbikes on public footways.
  • Increase the presence and enforcement powers of the local patrol to ensure rules are adhered to.
  • Facilitate better community discourse to address these concerns and more actively engage with residents.
  • Ensure public footways are kept clear and safe for all users, especially those with mobility impairments.

Every signature added to this petition signals a stand against this persistent negligence and draws us closer to a considerate, safe, and harmonious community living experience we all deserve.

Let's take back our footways and ensure the safety of our community. Sign the petition, and together let's make Newham a safer place for all residents.

Thank you for your support.
