The Issue

We, the residents of Spinola Bay and the surrounding streets of St Julians, are calling on the Malta Police Force and the relevant licensing authorities to take immediate action to enforce noise regulations at Tigullio Club, Spinola Bay, St Julians.

The club regularly operates late into the night and early morning hours, generating levels of noise that are completely incompatible with the residential neighbourhood it sits in. Amplified music, crowd noise, and general disturbance continue well beyond reasonable hours, making it impossible for residents to sleep and enjoy peace in their own homes.

We also raise serious questions about the validity of the club’s operating permits. Tigullio closed for approximately 15 years before reopening in November 2015 and has since changed ownership more than once. The area around Spinola Bay has developed considerably into a predominantly residential neighbourhood during that time, yet the club’s licence appears never to have been formally reviewed to reflect this.

We are not calling for entertainment to be removed from St Julians. We are calling for the law to be applied equally and fairly. No establishment, regardless of its history, has the right to operate in breach of noise regulations and cause ongoing distress to the people who live around it.

The matter has already been raised with the relevant authorities, who have acknowledged it as a genuine issue. What is needed now is a clear demonstration of community support to give them the backing to act.

Please sign this petition if you live in the area and have been affected, or if you simply believe that residents have the right to live in peace.

Thank you.
