Enforce Firework Ban Vancouver, WA

Enforce Firework Ban Vancouver, WA
The Issue
It is a painful truth for my family and I that, despite our love for our city, the continual disturbance caused by fireworks have for too long disrupted our tranquility and safety. My loyal dog trembles with fear, my child struggles to sleep, and our collective perception of our beloved home has been impacted. Fireworks within city limits are not just annoying, they are dangerous, wasteful, and hazardous.
The impacts are not limited to disturbed sleep cycles or terrified pets. They pose a serious threat to our already strained environment. Fireworks release harmful toxins and particulate matter into the air, endangering local air quality and contributing to pollution (source: US Environmental Protection Agency). Furthermore, nationwide, fireworks cause an average of 18,500 fires each year, including 1,300 structure fires, 300 vehicle fires, and approximately 17,000 other fires including wildfires (source: National Fire Protection Association).
Our plea is simple and urgent: We therefore demand that our city officials enforce the firework ban more efficiently and impose hefty fines to dissuade such disruptive abuses. Specifically, we demand a $1000 citation to violators to ensure individuals think twice before disturbing our community's safety and serenity. This petition represents not just one family's plight, but, we believe, resonates with thousands of others who are yearning for a safer, quieter, healthier Vancouver, WA. Please, raise your voices with us. Sign this petition today.
