The Issue

The high school baseball Senate championship game this year was marred by an incident that left many of us deeply disappointed and frustrated. An opposing team fielded a player, who, under the regulations, was ineligible due to having transferred schools. According to the rules, this player should not have participated in the playoffs or the championship game. Despite this, the player pitched the entire game, unfairly tipping the scales in their favor.

This situation is especially painful for our team and others who have given their all throughout the season. There are senior players whose last opportunity to compete was overshadowed by this act of dishonesty. Just imagine the dedication, efforts, and dreams poured into this final season, only to be thwarted by a team that chose to bypass the rules.

The player admitted to one of our team members that he fabricated a story about being bullied to gain eligibility, manipulating the system to play the entire season. Such actions not only violate the spirit of sportsmanship but also undermine the integrity of competitive sports at the high school level.

High school sports are meant to teach kids about teamwork, hard work, and fair play—not deceit and cutting corners. We are demanding an immediate review of this situation by the school district and appropriate action to ensure that such incidents do not occur again. Future games should reflect the values of sportsmanship and legitimate competition.

We urge the governing bodies of high school athletics to enforce strict compliance with transfer rules and implement checks that prevent ineligible players from competing in critical matches. This not only restores fairness but ensures that every athlete's efforts are honored truly and justly. Let us stand up for our kids who are playing by the rules and giving their best on the field.

Sign this petition to send a strong message that fair play and integrity matter in high school sports. It's time to hold accountable those who choose to break the rules and protect the essence of the game we all love.
