This is one of the most important consultations in years. If the draft plan passes unchanged, large areas of Enfield's Green Belt will be lost forever!

29,900 of you kindly signed this petition because you care about the Green Belt and want to help us to STOP Enfield Council’s appetite to destroy it.

Enfield Council have shown their hand through the publication of the Draft Local Plan which sadly proposes to remove protection from a large area of the borough's Green Belt so it can be developed as housing and industrial sites. This includes the beautiful farmland of Vicarage Farm and all of Crews Hill, including the garden centres and golf course right up to the M25.

The Green Belt in Hadley Wood is also targeted as well as Holly Hill Farm where the Council proposes to build a logistics hub, while the former Whitewebbs Golf Course will become another football training camp, restricting existing access to local residents.

All these sites lie within the boundaries of the former Enfield Chase and what remains of the Chase has huge historic importance in addition to the many benefits it provides as Green Belt. There are also threatened Green Belt sites, such as Rammey Marsh, in the east of the borough. These sites do not need to be lost. The Council is working against the wishes of the majority of residents, who do not want to build on the Green Belt when there are in fact alternatives that would be better for all Enfield's residents.

You can help to prevent this devastation by responding to the consultation. Individuals and groups can respond. There is no lower age limit, so it could be a great school or youth group project. And everyone in your household can respond individually.
