End wrongful denial of disability claims by SSA and DDS
The Issue
Did you know that every year , an estimated 30,000 individuals die while waiting on a claim for disability benefits to be approved? I am writing this petition because I have been personally affected by the wrongful denial of disability claims by the Social Security Administration (SSA) and the Disability Determination Services (DDS). I am living with advanced heart failure, a condition that is severely impacting my quality of life and my ability to work. Despite having contributed to the system through my taxes, I was wrongfully denied my disability benefits, and now, while waiting over 1 year since first applied , and 10 months since I appealed that denial, I have reached out to Congressional House Representative William Timmons , as well as United States Senator for South Carolina, Tim Scott for help with this . Their offices have both made calls to the SSA , but it appears that the SSA and DDS don't get intimidated by anyone or anything as my file still sits in the same place it has since September, it has become evident to me that they are waiting for me to die so they can avoid my back pay .The financial burden of this situation has not only depressed me and added additional stress , but it has drained my resources and has also placed an unfair burden on my father, who has allowed me to live with him while I am unemployed.
To address these issues, there must be a thorough review and overhaul of the current disability evaluation system to prevent further injustices. We propose the following solutions: increased oversight and accountability within the SSA and DDS, the establishment of a fast-track reassessment process for initially denied claims, and the allocation of additional resources to ensure claims are evaluated accurately and promptly.
This petition calls on lawmakers, policymakers, and the SSA to take immediate action to reform the disability claims process. We are not asking for special treatment – just what is fair and just. We are not only fighting for ourselves, but for the thousands of others who find themselves in a similar situation.
Please sign this petition and support the effort to end the wrongful denial of disability claims. Let us ensure that those who have contributed to the system, and desperately need the support it promises, receive the benefits they deserve. Every signature brings us one step closer to making this necessary change happen. Together, we can bring justice and support to those in need.
