I'm just a student, like any other, attending my classes and trying to learn in the best way possible. However, a tool my school uses called GoGuardian is causing unnecessary interruptions in our learning process. Many of us have had our iPads locked without valid reasons, leaving us unable to complete our work. In one instance, my iPad was arbitrarily locked while other students were permitted to browse YouTube without any consequences. We believe that this technology has been misused and has created an unequal learning environment.

According to a study published by the Journal of Children and Media, surveillance in education can lead to an infringement of children's rights and also increase the technology-related stress among students. This issue extends beyond my personal experience and impacts many other students within our school and countless others across the United States, where GoGuardian is commonly utilized.

We must remind our educators and administrators that these tools should be used to enhance our learning experience, not to hinder it. We call upon our school to reassess the usage of GoGuardian. It's time to stop the unnecessary and abrupt lockdown of technology tools that are supposed to aid in our education—not obstruct it. We seek fairness, consistency, and transparency in how these systems are used in our school. Please sign the petition if you agree.
