End the Miseducation: Restore the True History of America’s First People

The Issue

For generations, miseducation has shaped our lives. Our generation, our parents, our grandparents — and even those before them — were all taught the same false stories. The very same lies are still being passed down to our children today. This is the true meaning of a generational curse. We must break this curse now!

We were taught that Columbus “discovered” America. That Indigenous peoples were scattered and primitive. That those of us now called African American came only from somewhere else. These lies run deep, distorting our identity and severing us from our true heritage and our land.

The truth is clear: long before Columbus, advanced Indigenous civilizations thrived here. Cahokia, in present-day Illinois, was a city larger than London in 1250 CE — with monumental earthworks, agriculture, trade, and governance. Our ancestors developed crops that feed the world, democratic systems that influenced the U.S. Constitution, and spiritual traditions rooted in this land.

Yet schoolbooks still teach that America was an empty wilderness “waiting” for European civilization. That is not education — it is erasure.

Miseducation didn’t stop at 1492. After 1900, Native history all but disappears, as if Indigenous nations ceased to exist. The truth of land theft, forced assimilation, boarding schools, and Native resistance is ignored. Meanwhile, copper-colored Indigenous people were reclassified again and again — “Negro,” “Colored,” “Black,” and, by the late 1980s, “African American.” Reverend Jesse Jackson played a key role in promoting this latest label, meant to give dignity but also reinforcing a disconnection from our Indigenous roots in this land.

This is not just miseducation or "bad history", it’s a destiny swap. If you believe your history begins with slavery, you inherit chains; if you know your history begins with sovereignty, civilization, and land, you inherit power.

As Carter G. Woodson warned in The Mis-Education of the Negro:

“When you control a man’s thinking, you do not have to worry about his actions… He will find his ‘proper place’ and will stay in it.”

And as author Robert Collier once said, “Education is one-fourth information and three-fourths encouragement.” What happens when the information itself is false, and the encouragement is built on lies? Generations inherit chains instead of pride.

Schools have controlled our history to control our destiny. And as historian James W. Loewen documented in Lies My Teacher Told Me, this was no accident — U.S. textbooks have systematically erased Indigenous civilizations, distorted slavery, and misrepresented people of color for generations. This is contrary to research showing that culturally relevant curricula improve student achievement — proving that truth in education is not only a moral right but an academic necessity.

Our families have lived with these lies for too long. It is time to restore the truth, reclaim our identity, and pass down the power that was stolen. Our children deserve to know who they are — not the lies of slavery, but the truth of sovereignty, civilization, and even royalty that existed long before Columbus.

What We Demand

  • We call on school systems, curriculum boards, and policymakers to:
  • End the erasure of Indigenous civilizations before Columbus.
  • Teach Native history beyond 1900, including survival, resistance, and sovereignty.
  • Acknowledge the reclassification that disconnected people now called African American from this land.
  • Replace myths with documented truths, grounded in archaeology, history, and lived experience.

What We Can Do Now
We know institutional change takes time. That’s why we are taking action ourselves — creating AI tools for truth, education, and reclamation:

📚 True School AI– An AI tool that creates culturally accurate lesson plans and curriculum centering the real history of copper-colored Indigenous people. Parents and educators can use it immediately. It even suggests field trips based on your location and budget—making the learning real, local, and unforgettable. Perfect for anyone committed to raising informed, empowered youth.

🗺️ True Roots AI – An AI tool designed to help black Indigenous-descended people uncover hidden ancestral ties, land rights, and tribal connections. Using historical records like censuses, treaties, land patents, and more, it guides users through the process of reclaiming erased histories and challenging colonial miseducation. Whether you're researching family names or pursuing land and legacy claims, this tool empowers your journey with culturally rooted insight and direction.

Why Is Now the Time to Act?

Because the cost of waiting is too high. Research proves that culturally relevant curricula improve student achievement, graduation rates, and engagement. When our children see themselves as descendants of sovereignty and civilization — not just slavery — they gain strength, pride, and power. That knowledge of self fuels academic success, economic opportunity, and leadership.

Miseducation does the opposite. It breeds hopelessness, disconnection, and internalized inferiority. And the effects are not abstract — they show up in crime rates, dropout rates, and cycles of poverty. Studies confirm that lack of education is one of the strongest predictors of incarceration, while culturally grounded education reduces delinquency and strengthens communities.

For the first time, we have the tools to take back control of our own narrative. Technology like True School AI (the curriculum builder) and True Roots AI (the land patent research tool) allows us to reclaim history without waiting for permission from institutions. We are standing at a crossroads: act now, and we pass down truth and power. Delay, and another generation inherits silence, chains, and erasure.
