We are a group of concerned Addiction and Mental Health students calling for the immediate action to shut down the website incels.is by the Government of Canada, specifically the Minister of Public Safety. This site openly discusses and promotes hate and violence towards women, which is unacceptable and dangerous. Online platforms that foster such harmful ideologies contribute to real-world violence and discrimination against women. 

The website incels.is provides a forum for individuals who identify as “involuntary celibates” or “incels,” many of whom harbour deeply misogynistic views. The discussions on this site often advocate for violence against women, glorify harmful behaviours, and create an environment where hatred and discrimination are normalized. The site has grown by 10 000 members since 2024 with over 29,500 registered users as of 2/19/2025, which underscores the urgency of addressing the issue. 

By shutting down incels.is, we aim to take a stand against online hate speech and protect the safety and dignity of women. We also urge the government to implement stronger regulations to ensure that similar websites cannot operate freely. This is a crucial step towards creating a more inclusive, respectful, and safe internet for all Canadians. We urge the relevant authorities to take swift action to remove this site and ensure a safer internet for everyone. We believe that everyone has the right to feel safe and respected online.
