End the Euthanization of Healthy Animals in Shelters

End the Euthanization of Healthy Animals in Shelters
The Issue
As an employee at an animal specialty ER, I witness daily the lengths to which pet owners will go to save their critically ill pets. Yet, I also see how some owners, due to unfortunate circumstances such as death or financial issues, are unable to keep their pets. These animals often end up in shelters where they are given a limited time before being euthanized - a heartless and inhumane practice especially when these animals are perfectly healthy.
Animals offer us unconditional love and it's high time we reciprocate that love by ensuring they have a chance at life even when their original homes can no longer provide for them. It is estimated that each year approximately 1.5 million shelter animals are euthanized (670,000 dogs and 860,000 cats) according to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA). This number is staggering considering these include healthy animals who could have been adopted into loving homes.
We call on lawmakers and animal welfare organizations alike to put an end to this practice. Let's work towards creating more 'no-kill' shelters and implementing policies that prioritize finding forever homes for these fur babies instead of resorting quickly to euthanasia.
Every fur baby's life matters! Sign this petition today if you believe in giving every healthy shelter animal a fighting chance at life!
