In my own community, I have seen the devastating effects that chaining can have on dogs' physical and mental health. I have witnessed dogs dying on chains, abandoned and ignored, hence why this issue is incredibly personal to me. Chaining dogs is a cruel and archaic practice that has no place in our society. Dogs are social and intelligent creatures that require interaction, exercise, and proper care, all of which are neglected when they are chained up. According to the Humane Society of the United States, continually tethered dogs are more likely to bite and exhibit issues such as aggression and fearfulness, and are also susceptible to various health issues darkening their short life on a chain (Source: Humane Society of the United States). That is why we are calling for a total ban on dogs being kept on chains. These innocent beings deserve to live free from the confines of a chain. Dogs deserve better.
