Our children and their safety should always be a priority, especially within school walls. Recently, threats and cases of school shootings have been on the alarming rise, casting a cloud of fear over students, parents, and educators. As per the FBI, active shooter incidents in educational environments have accounted for 25.6% of all active shooter incidents since 2000. Unfortunately, with current strict cell phone bans in schools, our children are left helpless in these critical situations. Access to cell phones not only connects them to their parents during emergencies but also to emergency services. It's high time to rethink this policy. We ask school boards nationwide to end the ban on cell phones in educational settings.
