Petition to Premier David Eby

End the Abuse of people with disabilities in BC

We, the undersigned, urge Premier David Eby to take immediate action to fix the systemic failures at Community Living British Columbia (CLBC). For 20 years, CLBC has failed the 29,000 British Columbians with intellectual disabilities, developmental disabilities, Autism, and Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) it was meant to serve.

The Coroner’s Inquest into the starvation death of Florence Girard and the scathing 2021 BC Auditor General’s report on CLBC, highlight the many systemic failures of this Crown Corporation. The severe mismanagement, lack of oversight, and misuse of CLBC’s $1.7 billion budget is proof that CLBC’s leadership has failed, and we demand change.

We call on the BC government to:

  1. Immediately remove CLBC’s Board of Directors and CLBC senior staff.
  2. Conduct a full, independent review of CLBC’s operations and funding.
  3. Restructure CLBC or move CLBC back into government to ensure transparency, accountability, and proper care for those it serves.

Premier Eby, it is your responsibility to protect BC’s most vulnerable citizens. We demand action now!
