End student loan interest in India

End student loan interest in India
The Issue
Hello everyone,
I am a student who is struggling with the burden of student loan interest in India. I want to share my personal story with you.
I have to take a student loan of 3,99,999 rupees, which seemed reasonable considering I had no collateral. However, upon completing my B.Tech, I have to face with the harsh reality of an additional 1.2 lakh rupees in interest charges. The mounting interest is overwhelming, and a job post-graduation is anything but guaranteed.
This is not just my story; it's the story of countless students across India who strive for a better future through education but end up shackled by debt. Imagine those who take even larger loans to pursue their dreams, only to be burdened by hefty interest payments.
The unfairness cannot be ignored. The rich, who have the means, often find ways to evade taxes, while we students suffer, caught in a cycle of debt with little relief in sight. Is it just that those trying to better themselves and contribute to society are penalized?
What we demand is straightforward—end student loan interest in India. By doing so, the government will not only alleviate the financial burden on students but also empower us to focus on our education and career aspirations without the looming fear of debt. Many developed nations have recognized the value of interest-free or lower-interest loans for students. It’s time for India to follow suit and support its future workforce rather than hindering it.
Let's come together and urge the government to make a change that will positively impact the lives of many Indian students.
Please sign this petition and help us push for a future where education is a right, not a financial burden.
I am still scared to take a loan cuz of the interest I have to pay
