This is a deeply personal plea, born out of witnessing the heartbreaking path our girls and boys are being forced down. Our streets in Los Angeles have become a breeding ground for pimping, leading our youth towards destruction that sometimes offers no return. These children are not filthy rags to be discarded; they are the future of our city.

According to the Los Angeles Times, as many as 10,000 minors may be involved in sex trafficking each year in Los Angeles alone (2019). This alarming statistic is an urgent call for us to act now. It's time we shift our focus from the streets back into classrooms where these young minds truly belong.

Education is their right and a proven pathway towards a better life. The National Bureau of Economic Research reports that increased education significantly reduces criminal behavior (2013). By getting these kids off the streets and back into schools, we can provide them with opportunities for growth and development away from harmful influences.
