I call for an end to the second home allowance for MPs. The technology is readily available for MPs to conduct their businesses online, saving hundreds of thousands of pounds each year in taxpayers' money. MPs commuting needlessly also contribute to our carbon emissions, which is a direct contradiction in an era where the UK is aiming for net zero emissions. By eliminating this allowance and encouraging online meetings, we will not only save funds but also make a considerable impact on our CO2 emissions. MPs are elected to serve the people and by doing this they can validate that they truly are. This is the time for our MPs to step up for the environment and the citizens, and lead by example.
