The Issue

We are a group of 5th graders, that could at any moment become victims of a school shooting, we are urging the community to help us make a change.

School shootings are not just statistics—they are real-life nightmares unfolding with alarming regularity in our communities. In 2023 alone, the United States experienced over 50 school shooting incidents, with devastating consequences for students, teachers, and families. The increasing frequency of these events means that more children are at constant risk, whether at elementary schools or institutions of higher learning.

We need comprehensive firearm legislation that enforces stricter background checks, ensures safe storage of weapons, and restricts access to firearms for those with a history of violence or mental health issues. Moreover, funding should be allocated for increased security measures at schools, including the employment of trained security personnel and the installation of advanced security systems.

Education must also play a significant role. Programs that promote conflict resolution, mental health awareness, and community support can help to identify and address potential threats before they manifest into violence.

We call on lawmakers, educators, and community leaders to unite in a bipartisan effort to ensure the safety of our children. Every child deserves to learn in an environment free from the fear of gun violence.

By signing this petition, you are supporting a movement towards safer schools and communities. Let us come together to demand immediate action and put an end to the horror of school shootings. Sign and share this petition to amplify our call for meaningful change.
