Petition updateEnd Property Taxes in Texas: Let Texans Truly Own Their HomesPetition Update: Arlington Proves Why Property Tax “Relief” Is Not Enough

This is exactly why this petition matters.

Last year, Texas lawmakers passed property tax reform and relief, telling homeowners that help was finally on the way. But here in Arlington, local taxing districts found another way to come right back to the voters and ask for more.

Arlington ISD just pushed through another property tax increase through its 2026 bond election. Propositions A and B passed, adding hundreds of millions in new debt and more than $30 million for technology all while the district has already been operating with budget deficits and asking taxpayers to trust the same system again.

This is the pattern.

Austin says “relief.”
Local districts say “we need more.”
Homeowners get stuck with the bill.

And how do they sell it? With polished marketing, emotional messaging, and children placed front and center to convince voters that raising their own property taxes is somehow the responsible thing to do. Nobody is against children. Nobody is against education. But using children to emotionally pressure homeowners into giving millions more every year to a deficit-running system is exactly the problem.

Texans are tired of being told that every tax increase is “for the kids” while families, seniors, and homeowners are taxed out of the homes they already paid for.

This is why property tax reform is not enough.

We do not need temporary relief.
We do not need another exemption.
We do not need another slick campaign.
WE NEED TO END THE TAX ON HOME OWNERSHIP.

A paid-off home should belong to the homeowner — not the government, not the appraisal district, not the school district, and not any local taxing authority.

After signing, please consider donating to help promote this petition so more Texas homeowners see it. The only way to stop this cycle is to build enough public pressure that lawmakers cannot ignore us.

End property taxes in Texas. Let Texans truly own their homes.
