Question: Do you own your home, even if the mortgage is paid off?
Answer: No, you do not legally own your home.
Why? Because of the county and city property tax.
Texans do not actually own their homes or properties. If you don’t agree with this statement then we challenge you to stop paying your property taxes. It will be only a matter of time that the county will seize your home and liquidate it at auction to “Satisfy the tax lien”. Guess who keeps all the money from the tax lien sale? The county, not you.
Texas has some of the highest property taxes in the nation. Yet Texas is controlled by the republican party who champions themselves as the party of low taxes. Even with a 27-billion-dollar budget surplus, Texans have received NO tax relief at any level. The state legislature has the power to eliminate property taxes and fund the schools and give true tax relief for Texans along with true home/property ownership. If the state eliminated property taxes the economy of Texas would explode in growth due to the millions of dollars that Texans no longer had to send to a broken socialist indoctrinating school system in the form of property taxes.
Isn’t it time to make true change by eliminating property taxes and ushering in a new era of true home/property ownership where the government can’t seize your home that you worked so hard to buy.
