End Mass Mosquito Fogging in Cabot, AR

End Mass Mosquito Fogging in Cabot, AR
The Issue
We, the concerned residents of Cabot and supporters of environmental and public health, urge the City of Cabot to stop the routine use of mass mosquito fogging.
This practice poses serious public health risks, especially to children, the elderly, and individuals with asthma or other respiratory conditions. The chemicals used in fogging are not only inhaled by humans but also settle into soil, water, and homes—leading to long-term exposure.
Beyond human health, fogging severely harms our local ecosystems. It kills pollinators such as bees and butterflies, disrupts food chains by eliminating beneficial insects, and endangers wildlife. It also contributes to the development of pesticide-resistant mosquito populations, reducing long-term effectiveness.
We are not asking for inaction. We are asking for smarter action.
We demand the City of Cabot:
-Halt all mass fogging operations immediately.
-Conduct a full review of the health and environmental impacts of fogging.
-Invest in safer, science-backed alternatives, including:
-Biological larviciding in standing water
-Public education on mosquito prevention
-Habitat control (eliminating breeding grounds)
-Encouraging use of non-toxic repellents and mosquito-repellent landscaping
-Support for natural predators like bats or mosquito-eating fish
Our city has the opportunity to lead by example—choosing methods that protect both people and the planet. We respectfully request urgent action to end mass pesticide fogging and transition to healthier, more sustainable mosquito control strategies.
