End legal breeding of cats

End legal breeding of cats
The Issue
Every litter born is a plea for help that goes unanswered. The cycle of cat breeding causes extreme suffering, with female cats bearing the pain of this cruel practice. They are forced into relentless cycles of pregnancy, often facing life-threatening complications and agonizing pain. Meanwhile, countless cats languish in shelters, waiting for forever homes. The harsh reality spares no breeder or cat: many breeders cannot afford life-saving surgeries, leaving queens to suffer without essential medical interventions.
The legal breeding of cats in our society presents numerous risks and a significant cause for concern. It is currently legal for anyone to breed cats, this leaves so many female cats at risks for pain, suffering and even death, like dystocia or difficult deliveries requiring emergency C-sections, which can cost approximately $20,000. For instance Queens can develop retained fetus or placenta, without quick and proper medical care the queen will suffer and die within a week, No animal deserves this treatment.
At times it is not the lack of compassion or neglect, many times it’s a lack of knowledge and serious need of a reality check. Imagine a female cat being bred and the breeder thinks nothing will go wrong, they see that there queen had 5 healthy litters so far so they have no cause of concern But on her 6th litter something does go wrong, After delivery she acts depressed and not her usual self, the breeder sees she’s sick and not well, but the breeder does not have the money to help and save this innocent life. She is in pain and her belly is bloated. A week later she pushes out a placenta that has been rotting inside of her for a week. This is a serious matter, she has a retained fetus and placenta and without quick medical help she will suffer and die by the 2nd week. This is why Legal breeding should be illegal!
Due to the significant costs and commitment required for responsible breeding, too many cats suffer from neglect and poor conditions. These animals deserve dignity, care, and proper medical attention, none of which can be assured under lax legal breeding regulations.
By ending legal breeding, we can reduce the number of abused and suffering cats, effectively prioritizing animal welfare. This change will allow us to allocate resources toward the cats already waiting in shelters for loving families. An overhaul of the current system could include stricter licensing and mandated proof of financial readiness to ensure the well-being of bred cats.
Join me in our quest to protect these vulnerable animals. It is time to break the current cycle that condemns countless female cats to perpetual suffering. Sign this petition to urge lawmakers to end legal breeding practices and advocate for stringent regulations that safeguard the well-being of all animals involved. Your support can make a world of difference in their lives.
