End Federal Income Tax for Police, Firefighters, and Military

End Federal Income Tax for Police, Firefighters, and Military
The Issue
In October of 2024 President Trump spoke about eliminating federal income taxes for our Police, Firefighters, active duty Military and veterans. It’s time to move forward and stand up for the people who keep us safe!
Ibelieve that majority of our Police, Firefighters, and active military members, as well as our veterans, risk their lives each day they are in service, yet they remain grossly underpaid. Their sacrifices are immeasurable, but our government fails to return the favor with high enough payment in return for their dedication to duty. Our country is experiencing a massive recruitment crisis that leaves us more vulnerable to crime and violence.
Our first respondents and military members are critical to our national security and public safety. However, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, our police and firefighters earn, on average, significantly lower than many other professions that don't involve daily risk to life (Bureau of Labor Statistics). It is therefore only equitable to exempt them from federal income tax. Meanwhile, the military pay gap with the civilian sector has widened to about 2.6% as stated by the Congressional Budget Office's report in 2020 (Congressional Budget Office).
I call on our legislators to consider and implement laws that will exempt police officers, firefighters, and active duty military and veterans from federal income tax. This would not only be a huge leap in demonstrating the nation's respect and gratitude for their service, but also an effective strategy to encourage recruitment and retention in these critical sectors. It is high time we take concrete actions to ensure the welfare of our brave men and women in service. Please, join the movement to push this forward by signing this petition.
