As a Jewish and Israeli individual, I have been deeply affected by the recent surge of attacks on Jewish people worldwide. The echoes of World War II are too loud to ignore. It is with this personal pain that I call upon the authorities in Ontario, Canada to take immediate action against anti-Semitic and anti-Israel protests occurring within our universities.

These demonstrations not only promote hate against Israel but also support Hamas, an organization recognized as a terrorist group by many countries including Canada itself. They encourage violence against Jewish people both in Israel and around the world, creating an atmosphere of fear and hostility for Jewish students on campus.

Furthermore, these protests often call for the elimination of the Jewish state or its destruction - a clear violation of human rights principles that all democratic societies should uphold. The recognition or promotion of Hamas during these protests is particularly alarming given their history of violent actions.

According to Statistics Canada (2018), hate crimes against Jews have increased by 63% over previous years. This alarming rise cannot be ignored any longer. It's time we took decisive action to ensure our educational institutions remain safe spaces for all students regardless of their ethnicity or religious beliefs.
