End Animal Suffering: Transform California State Animal Shelters Into No-Kill Shelters!

End Animal Suffering: Transform California State Animal Shelters Into No-Kill Shelters!

The Issue

Hello,

Let's join together and bring attention to the need for change in our California State Animal Shelters. During one of my recent visits to a local shelter, I saw firsthand the mistreatment of many animals, and it really hit me hard! We can't ignore the lack of care, overcrowding, and the unfortunate euthanization of animals without finding them loving homes.

We have the power to make a difference! Let's come together, gather signatures, and raise awareness for the welfare of animals in our community. Every signature counts, and every voice matters. Together, we can transform these shelters into No Kill Shelters, where every precious life is valued and protected. *If an animal’s quality of life is seriously impaired by an injury or disease and it cannot be treated or requires more care than the shelter may provide or offer then euthanasia may be the right decision.

May we share our stories, videos, and experiences to shed light on this issue.

Together, starting from one state to another, let's reflect on the incredible impact we can make as a nation when it comes to transforming animal shelters into no-kill shelters. By uniting our voices and advocating for this cause, we can show the world the importance of compassion and create a safer, more loving environment for our furry friends. Let’s require a positive change at our local shelters for the well-being of our animals across the country! ❤️

Facts and Statistics:

1) A study published by The American Journal of Sociological Research (2016) found that implementing no-kill policies significantly reduces euthanasia rates while increasing adoption rates.

2) According to data from Best Friends Animal Society (2019), approximately 733 dogs and cats are killed every day in California shelters due to overcrowding or lack of resources. The number rises each year.

3) The 2021-22 and 2020-21 state budgets included a total $50 million investment for a statewide Animal Shelter Assistance Program administered by UC Davis to give the state's animal shelters the training and resources they need to work toward the state's no-kill goal.

4) San Bernardino County officials stood alongside Rep. Pete Aguilar as he introduced a new bill that would provide grants to public animal shelters, the first of its kind. October (2023)

5) Numerous cities across the United States have successfully transitioned their animal shelters into no-kill facilities by implementing effective programs such as increased spay/neuter initiatives, comprehensive adoption programs, and community outreach.
