With the TV show 'Dirty Business', the sewage scandal in England is making headlines, but pollution from sewer overflows is also a problem in Scotland.
In 2024, we had over 24,000 sewage spills. Not only does this mean billions of litres of sewage discharged into rivers and seas, but communities who are worried about this, are struggling to get their concerns addressed.
As only around 34% of sewer overflows are monitored (compared to 91% in England), people also don't know when and where all of the spills are happening.
The campaign to 'Clean Up Scotland's Sewage' is based on analysis of cases to our legal advice service. It's bringing together the voices of people across Scotland to demand better - for our health, rivers and seas.
Join us and take action by signing the petition with four asks to all Scottish political parties to tackle sewage pollution.
