The recurrent sewage overflows is our main priority - look at the impact of this combined sewage overflow from East Calder Wastewater Treatment Work's stormwater storage tanks in December 2020. It in unacceptable for Scottish Water and SEPA to respond to recurrent sewage overflows saying that they're meeting regulations.

A freedom of information (FOI) request revealed that the rainfall data indicated an overall storm return period of approximately 1 in 4.7 years. Within this period there was a short duration on 5th December 2020 when the rainfall increased to 90mm/hr with a return period of 1 in 8.5 years.

An unremarkable storm but look at the impact on our river!
