Every President has done some good things. Trump quickly created the first Covid vaccine saving millions, Biden put millions to work creating safer roads and bridges. So I think it’s fair to say that most of us support policies that fight against Russia’s attack on Ukraine.

As a direct descendant of Ukrainian immigrants who fled political persecution, this cause is deeply personal. I, along with many other concerned citizens, am calling for our representatives to take a stand against the unjust anti-Ukraine policies being proposed by the current administration. Ukraine, a sovereign nation with a rich and vibrant history, has already faced numerous challenges to its independence and security. The proposed policies would only add to the cycle of political turmoil and instability – something my ancestors knew all too well. 

In 2020, the United States provided $441 million in aid to Ukraine, indicating our past commitment to supporting their political and economic stability (U.S. Department of State). A move now to destabilize Ukraine is not the path that our Representatives should endorse. We urge them to remember his duty to uphold democratic values, both here and overseas. 

Opposing these harmful policies will strengthen global stability and earn  the respect of our representatives’ constituencies who have roots in Ukraine. Please join in upholding the international principles that our nation holds dear. Sign this petition today to make your voice heard.
