This petition is deeply personal. My friend, Gavin, has been known for his long hair for quite some time. However, he recently decided to change his look and cut it short. While we respect his decision, all of our friends and family agree that he looked better with longer hair.

In fact, according to a survey by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons in 2017, around 63% of men in America prefer having long hair as they believe it enhances their appearance (source: American Society of Plastic Surgeons). While this statistic doesn't necessarily reflect everyone's preferences or experiences in Peoria, AZ where we live, it does suggest that many people find longer hairstyles attractive on men.

We're not asking Gavin to grow out his hair because we want him to conform to societal standards or because we don't respect his autonomy over his own body. We simply miss the old Gavin with the long hair that became such an integral part of who he is.
