Encourage Disney to Maintain Cancellation of 'The Acolyte'

The Issue

As a devoted fan of the franchise, I deeply feel the sour tang of disappointment when I see our beloved universe being reshaped to fit into the framework of personal, political narratives. Leslye Headland made it clear from the onset that her priority was not to make a great Star Wars product, but to rather reshape it in her own image ignoring the fan base that has followed it for years. Her decisions alienated the true task that was put before her. To tell a great story. The irony of all of this is that her intention to bring diversity to the galaxy far far away could have been achieved. However, her focus was so lasered in on diversity and inclusion that the story suffered from a lack of direction, wooden acting, and a litany of contradictions. As more and more people began to see what this product actually was, we as fans voiced our disgust. Not because of its diversity but rather because of the lack of focus on what truly matters. The story! We can all share this wonderful world that George Lucas created. Diversity does have a place and can be achieved, but not at the cost of what has made Star Wars the great intellectual property we have all come to love. There has always been great female lead characters in Star Wars and there will be more. The perception created by Headland and Amandla is one of resentment. In their own words of disdain, they paint Star Wars as a IP full of oppression and bigotry. An IP that pushed aside people that they say looked like them. Well, I too look like them. I have never felt put aside because I saw Star Wars for what it was. A story. I can see myself in Luke even though I wasnt white. How can they have loved Star Wars if it was so oppressive and full of misogyny? I contend that their intent was to use the Star Wars label to get their vision in front of as many eyes as possible all the while never adhering to the vision of Star Wars. In fact, they intended to mock it all while claiming the victimhood of what they called toxic fans. Decisions to employ people who admittedly knew nothing of Star Wars is direct evidence that her intention was never to join Star Wars but to rather own it and take it over. Even when faced with the evidence that the product that was put out was inferior, they cried victimhood at the hands of racist bigots who they say represent a loud minority of fans. They delusionally thought that their product was beloved by all and just those with an agenda were out to get them.  I am sorry to say that I am one of the fans who despised this show and it had nothing to do with racism nor bigotry.

So I ask you to let them know that this was not acceptable. We are not the minority as they have tried to label us as such. When someone makes a product that was so literally this horrible, it deserves to be cancelled. Disney cancelled it because after spending $200 million to get the lowest viewership of any Star Wars product, they realized this story was a loser. Diversity couldnt save The Acolyte. Cameos counldnt save The Acolyte. Trinity couldnt save The Acolyte. The people who have supported this product either have an agenda themselves or have reduced Star Wars to a long Manny Jacinto thirst trap meme. Its time to bury The Acolyte in the waste heap where it belongs.

It's important we stand together to urge Disney to maintain their decision to cancel 'The Acolyte' and redirect resources towards content that adhere to the original franchise blueprint, preserving its essence, resulting in respectful, and captative adaptations. And that diversity and inclusion should be an ingredient and not the focus of creating a story.
