I write today, not just as an Illinois resident, but as a citizen deeply concerned about our liberties being steadily eroded. Like many others, I am tired of Illinois infringing on our 2nd amendment rights, and I believe it's time we stand up for change.

Our right to bear arms is a fundamental liberty enshrined in the U.S. Constitution. Yet, in Illinois, we are burdened with restrictive gun control regulations that violate this basic right. Our state is one of the 31 where Constitutional Carry isn't in effect (source: Guns&America). This form of carry, also known as permitless carry, allows lawful gun owners to carry concealed firearms without needing to obtain a permit.

We stand today not just to voice a grievance, but to initiate positive change. I am proposing that we enact Constitutional Carry legislation in Illinois, empowering responsible citizens to exercise their 2nd Amendment rights as outlined in the Constitution. Every citizen has an inherent right to protect themselves and their loved ones, and this action would put that right back into the hands of the law-abiding people of this state.

We have a chance to join the 19 states that have already recognized the value of Constitutional Carry, including our neighbors, Missouri and Kentucky (source: National Association for Gun Rights). It is high time that Illinois follows suit to respect and uphold the freedoms guaranteed by our Constitution.
