I am joining the chorus of many gamers impacted by Steam's current policy, which restricts Family Sharing of games to those living in the same geographical region. Many, including me, have been hit hard by this: I am unable to share games with my fiancée simply because she is living abroad. This strikes us as utterly absurd, especially in a time when digital connection is all the more crucial.

Allowing only local family sharing fails to consider the realities of today's global society where families aren't always geographically close. According to a report by the Pew Research Center, roughly 14% of people relocate for love and relationships, often outside their home country. This represents a significant number of users who, like myself and my fiancée, are abruptly cut off from sharing their Steam libraries with their loved ones, through no fault of their own.

Steam has long been a champion of providing a shared gaming experience, a commitment that should extend to families across borders. Let's remind Steam of its motto: "Steam is the ultimate destination for playing, discussing, and creating games.". By limiting family sharing by geographic region, they violate this motto and the principle behind it, as well as fail to beat the competition within its own field of business. 

We call on Steam to change this policy. Enabling Family Sharing access across multiple regions is not just a matter of principle, it's also a direct way to enrich many gaming lives worldwide. We encourage everyone to sign this petition. Let's remind Steam we, as a global gaming community, stand together, irrespective of where we reside geographically.
