Enable Party Chat Recording on Xbox with User Consent

The Issue

Dear Xbox Team,

We, the Xbox community, respectfully request the addition of an option to record party chat audio, with participants’ consent. This feature would allow us to capture and share memorable moments without requiring costly additional equipment.

Why this Matters:

• Memories and Moments: Whether it’s laughter among friends or celebrating big achievements, this feature ensures we can preserve our favorite gaming experiences.

• Cost-Efficient: Removing the need for costly external capture cards and equipment, making it accessible to more players.

• User Choice: Like on PlayStation, each participant can choose to consent to being recorded, addressing any privacy concerns.

We believe this addition would greatly enhance the Xbox experience and bring it on par with other platforms. Thank you for considering our request.

-Personal story-

As a kid, I spent about a year saving up for a capture card so I could start a YouTube channel. I loved playing Xbox and shared countless incredible moments with friends I met online—some who were likely halfway across the world. Unfortunately, once I finally afforded a capture card, I discovered my computer’s specs weren’t sufficient to record anything. As a result, years of precious memories filled with laughter, joy, and achievements were lost because we didn’t have an in-built option to capture them.

It doesn’t have to be this way for future generations of gamers. Xbox has the power to make it happen.
