Hello friends! I am a senior in the Eagle Mountain Saginaw district who is partnering with other students to propose a policy that places clear restrictions on ICE access to our schools.

As a student here, I have seen the fear that grips friends and families in our community from the looming threat of being targeted by Immigration and Customs Enforcement. This anxiety surrounding our neighborhoods is something that extends to all of us, regardless of citizenship status.

Students in our district have raised their voice in the form of peaceful actions to denounce ICE overreach in our communities. This policy is a practical way for the District to show that they care about our students’ safety, as they have stated before in response.

We have a vital opportunity here to show that young voices have power in shaping what happens within their schools and wider community. Together, we can push for an EMS ISD policy that will help alleviate the fears of our undocumented students and others alike.  EMS ISD: ¡PROTEGE  A LOS ESTUDIANTES DEL ABUSO DE PODER DE ICE!

¡Hola! Soy un estudiante de último año en el distrito de Eagle Mountain, Saginaw. Estoy colaborando con otros estudiantes para proponer una política que restrinja claramente el acceso de ICE a nuestras escuelas.

Como alumno de EMSISD, he visto el miedo que embarga a amigos y familiares de nuestra comunidad ante la inminente amenaza del Servicio de Inmigración y Control de Aduanas (ICE). Esta ansiedad que rodea a nuestros vecindarios nos afecta a todos, independientemente de nuestra ciudadanía.

Los alumnos de nuestro distrito han alzado su voz a través de medidas pacificas protestando los abusos de ICE en nuestras comunidades. Esta medida es una manera concreta en que el Distrito puede mostrar su interes de la proteccion de nuestros alumnos, tal como ellos han indicado en su respuesta.

Tenemos una oportunidad vital para demostrar que las voces de los jóvenes tienen el poder de influir en lo que sucede dentro de sus escuelas y en la comunidad en general. Juntos, podemos impulsar una política en EMS ISD que ayude a aliviar los temores de nuestros estudiantes indocumentados y de otras personas por igual.
