The issue

Women deserve a safe space to swim without fear. Reports indicate that 1 in 3 women feel unsafe in public swimming pools due to harassment, including unwanted attention, inappropriate behaviour, and verbal abuse. Concerns about privacy and personal safety have led to increased demand for a women-only swimming facility in the City of Casey.

Research published in the Journal of Leisure Research found that "The data were collected from girls, aged 15–16 years, in focus groups and individual interviews. The girls were a subset of an earlier study that had found that 29% of girls would use pools more if boys were not around. "

Our Solution: A Women-Only Swimming Facility (not just limited to one night) – This space ensures privacy, security, and empowerment for all women.

A dedicated women’s swimming facility in the City of Casey would be more than just a place to swim. It would:

  • Promote social interaction and community bonding.
  • Encourage women to engage in physical activities.
  • Provide a secure space where women can focus on their health and fitness without fear or hesitation.
  • Empower women to lead active, healthy lives.

By signing this petition, you are supporting the cause of community well-being, inclusivity, safety, and accountable council.

Together, we’ll make a positive impact!
