The Issue

To: The President of the Republic of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa.

We the undersigned Citizens of South Africa, would like to respectfully raise a concern regarding employment Opportunities for people who are 35 years and older.

Many government and private sector programmes aimed at addressing unemployment are focused mainly on youth between the ages of 18 to 35. While these programmes are important, they unintentionally leave out a large number of unemployed citizens who are older than 35 years and still capable of working and contributing to the economy.

Many leaders and public representatives continue serving in government positions well into their 60s and 70s, which raises questions about fairness when employment opportunities for ordinary citizens are limited by age restrictions.

We therefore respectfully request that the Presidency and the government of South Africa consider the following:

1) Clarify what the government's plans is for unemployed citizens over the age of 35 .

2) Review age restrictions in government funded opportunities ensuring that older citizens are not excluded.

3) Introduce employment programmes for people aged 35 and above.

4) Provide policies that promote equal opportunities for all.

We believe that addressing issue will help reduce employment and ensure that all South Africans have a fair chance to work and supporting their families.

We respectfully request a response from the Presidency on the government plans to address this gap.

Sincerely

Concerned Citizens Of South Africa
