International Women’s Day (IWD) is a global event celebrated on 8th March each year to acknowledge the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women's equality in communities. As part of the 2020 International Women’s Day celebration, the various women alliance of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA): the SRC and GRASSAG Women’s Commissioners, in collaboration with the Gender Unit, is working towards the establishment of a Lactation room in the University community. We believe that this facility will encourage more women to succeed in their careers whilst playing their roles as mothers. We strongly believe that being a mother should not stop women from pursuing higher education and aiming higher in any sphere of life.
