Firstly, an enormous thank you to everyone who has signed, shared, and supported this petition. We've now reached 454 signatures — every single one of them a voice for our wildlife, our streets, and the protection of the Peninsula's natural beauty.
After four weeks of campaigning, phone calls, emails, photos, videos, and silence from almost every corner, I finally received a reply from one councillor — David Gill. While the response acknowledged the damage being done and the wider issues with state-imposed vegetation protocols, it was also a clear reminder of how complex and systemic this problem is. Prior to this, only one other councillor had responded to show any support.
Your support has kept this issue from being swept under the rug. It’s because of your signatures and shares that this has reached the Council chamber at all.
This campaign has taken a personal toll, and while I’m deeply discouraged by the lack of official engagement, I remain incredibly grateful for this community and what we've managed to do together so far.
Please continue to share the petition — we need every voice to keep pressure on our local representatives and show them we are watching, we care, and we expect better.
With gratitude,
Nat
