Julian Assange has been imprisoned for 1889 days
Dear Supporters,
On the 9th and 10th of July we will be back outside the High Court as Julian's appeal against extradition to the US for journalism is held. As before we will be on hand to keep you informed of the minute by minute updates from court and once again urge you to gather outside on the mornings of Tuesday 9th and Wednesday 10th July in order to show your support. More details to follow.

In the run up to July's court hearing Julian wife Stella spoke to re:publica 24 at an event in Berlin - a wide-ranging interview in which she told the audience that the ongoing isolation of Julian inside HMP Belmarsh was having a massive impact on his health and that she feared a "catastrophic health episode" as he endures continuing incarceration, now for more than five years, in the UK's most restrictive prison.
You can watch the full interview with Stella alongside security expert Andy Müller-Maguhn, moderated by journalist and historian Michael Sontheimer here: https://freeassange.org/2024/05/27/republica24-in-conversation-with-stella-assange/
A portrait of Julian created by artist Shaun Gladwell during a specially arranged visit in Belmarsh and titled 'A sprangled symbolist portrait of Julian Assange floating in reflection", went on display in Australia as a finalist in the highly regarded Archibald prize.
Extraordinarily Gladwell had to use chocolate bought from the prison canteen and sketched on a banknote to capture a likeness of Julian - you can read more about the artist's visit and the lengths he went to in order to meet him here: https://www.sydneytimes.net.au/arts-culture/julian-assange-portrait-named-as-archibald-finalist/

Stella will be speaking on a panel discussion entitled "Bitcoin as a tool of freedom" at the Prague Bitcoin conference on Wednesday, tickets can be found here: https://btcprague.com/speakers/stella-assange/ as well as attending Wired in Milan on June 15/16 https://eventi.wired.it/nextfest24-milano/home
Launched in the run up to EU elections, Reporters Without Borders in conjunction with the International Federation for Human Rights published their 'Manifesto for the Defence of Julian Assange' describing Julian's continued unjust incarceration as a "crucial issue for the preservation of press freedom", whose extradition would set a "devastating precedent for investigative journalism and citizens' right to be informed". The full document can be found here: https://freeassange.org/2024/06/04/manifesto-for-the-defense-of-julian-assange/
In this crucial period before Julian's High Court hearing it is vital that we continue to increase pressure on politicians and help to amplify the simple call to do the right thing and let Julian Assange go free. Whether you are in the UK where there is a General Election on July 4, in France where elections have also now been called or elsewhere, now is the time to call, write and argue loudly that this unjust persecution cannot go on any longer and Julian Assange must be allowed freedom and a family life.
Lastly, we pass on our condolences to the family and friends of Reporters Without Borders' Christophe Deloire who sadly died on Saturday at the age of only 53. Deloire was a principled champion of press freedom who has visited Julian in HMP Belmarsh and advocated strongly on his behalf.
Free Julian Assange!
