The current standard of relying on score reviews in game-play has not only undermined the integrity and authority of our umpires, but it also hampers the original spirit of the game we all love. A recent study by Sport Integrity Monitor suggests that excessive use of technology in sports is impacting the real-time decision-making abilities of officials. Umpires, once known for their on-spot calls based on skills, experience, and instincts, have now been replaced by incessant replays and score reviews. By elimination of score reviews, we propose going back to the days where the umpires' calls were final and fully trusted. Their decisive role made them an integral part of the game and not merely spectators on the field. This way, we can bring back the thrill and excitement of spontaneous decision making in the game. This is not a call to resist technology but to use it sparingly and only when absolutely necessary, hence retaining the genuine essence of the game.
