Eliminate Rumble Strips on Stony Rd to Preserve Neighborhood Peace
The Issue
I, a lifelong resident and candidate for township supervisor, seek to ensure the tranquility of our township for all residents we have known for years. The rumble strips on Stony Road have interrupted this peace, producing a consistent, unnecessary drone above 90 decibels, significantly exceeding the typical noise level of 60 decibels in residential areas (Source: Urban Environmental Noise Guidelines).
The introduction of a ‘Stay in Your Lane’ sign is not an appropriate solution. The sign’s messaging does not guarantee a reduction in noise levels. Instead, the persistent noise pollution continues to be a nuisance to neighboring households and places undue stress on our local environment. Federal law indicates that noise above 80 decibels can be harmful, reinforcing our concerns regarding the harsh sounds produced by the rumble strips (Source: Occupational Safety and Health Administration).
A peaceful life is a fundamental right for all residents. Therefore, we request that township authorities remove the rumble strips on Stony Road to restore the calm we once cherished. Stand with us. Join our movement to reclaim serenity in our homes. Sign this petition today. Your voice counts!
