The Village student apartments at Montclair State University comprises of upperclassmen ADULT students residing there who have always had it optional whether to have a meal plan or not. We HAVE access to our own kitchen in our apartments with all the amenities provided to cook for ourselves, stove, microwave etc and even a full sized fridge. Furthermore, we pay the highest amount of funds to reside in these apartments so we can HAVE all those facilities.

Unfortunately starting the 2024-2025 year, the university has made it mandatory for the students to choose a meal plan for ourselves despite us having all the resources. This is a big burden and causes a lot of financial obligations for us. We CANNOT afford to pay extra money on top of the hefty amount we pay to reside here. Please change this back to the way it was. This is extremely disappointing and outrageous. We already strive to make both ends meet and pay our remaining balances. Thank you.
