Eliminate Gambling Websites from E-Wallet Services

The Issue

Hello. I, like many others, have watched the damaging effects of online gambling on the lives of people we care about. The addictive nature of gambling, particularly when coupled with its easy accessibility, has damaged countless lives financially and emotionally. One such access point is through GCash, a widely used e-wallet app, where gambling websites can be directly funded.

These online gambling platforms prey on the vulnerable, providing an escape that rapidly turns into a destructive addiction. With the added convenience of GCash, anyone can instantly cash in to play casino games, further feeding their addiction.

According to the National Council on Problem Gambling, about 2-3% of the US population, or nearly 6 to 9 million people, struggle with a gambling problem or addiction. This worrying trend is likely reflected globally, where e-wallet apps like GCash are prevalent.

We believe GCash, like all financial institutions, has a corporate social responsibility to protect its users from destructive online practices. By removing these gambling websites from their platform, GCash would not only be upholding this responsibility but also taking a vital step towards tackling the global problem of online gambling addiction.

We call upon GCash to sever ties with all online gambling entities and to institute policies that guard against the exploitation of its services for such harmful activities.

Let's help reduce the harm gambling addiction causes by asking GCash to remove these websites from their services. We cannot stand by while lives are being damaged. Your signature can make a difference. Sign the petition today.
