Eliminate Excessive Homework for Children in South Carolina Schools

The Issue

My children are in school for eight hours each day, five days a week. Even after this intense schedule, they are burdened with more homework to complete at home. I find this outrageous. They are denied their rightful time to relax, explore personal interests, or spend time with family due to the unprecedented volume of schoolwork. Kids have sports and other activities they like to do after school and not have to still worry about getting homework done after, Us parents dont want to have to worry about making sure it's done after a long day either we still have other responsibilities to do before we can even relax also. The current system seems to overlook the fact that kids need balance in their lives, that they need time to be kids. Studies also show that excessive homework does not significantly improve academic achievement but can cause children stress and physical health complications. We, the people of South Carolina, urge our lawmakers and education officials to reassess our children's homework practices in schools. Let's prioritize the well-being and holistic development of our children. Stop giving our children homework and overloading them with so much at once in and out of school. Please, sign this petition and stand with us.
